Betty
Womack the women behind the Scenes
I can’t remember a time in my
life that didn’t involve reading and creating what I thought were
tales of splendor and adventure. In my teen years, I was deep into
acting, anything that allowed me to slip into the extraordinary
world of make believe. More often than not, I wrote the zany script.
I planned to be an actress, or even better, a backup singer for
artists like Tina Turner, or the ultimate Roger Whittaker. Lord
knows neither needed me to sound magnificent.
Some people think moving from
state to state like my family did sounds like never ending
adventure. It wasn’t, at least not for me. It meant new schools, new
towns and constant trying to fit in. All this probably sounds like a
painful period, but no. I have a million characters to call on
whenever I am working on a new book, some good, some very
unimpressive.
As with most dreams,
mine gave way to reality and I married the hottest guy in the
neighborhood and gladly tossed all the fantasy things aside for the
thrill of true-life, to love him, my daughter, my son and our home.
Now that they are both adults
with their own lives, I can spend twenty-four seven in my “let’s
pretend” world. I love writing and always fall in love with my
hero’s. I just can’t help it. My guess is all authors of romance do
the same thing. At least, a little bit.
That’s my wish, that readers find
themselves falling in love while reading my books.
